E-mails +

I realised some E-mails from potential employers were going into my junk mail, when I first discovered this I was so worried I might have missed an interview, but they were just a few rejections. Either way, I realised I need to check my e-mails constantly, including my junk.

So yesterday I applied for a Graduate Actuarial Training Scheme, this one like the others start in September 2015, so today I spent the day applying to jobs that will give me some experience. The best one I applied to was in Leeds for a Graduate Fraud Analyst, which sounded really interesting, fingers crossed.

Tools

I guess the tools you use for job hunting are just as important as your CV, whats the point of having an amazing CV if you can’t get it to the employer.

The Tools iv been using so far are Reed, Theactuaryjobs and my latest is Jobsite. Theactuaryjobs is as you can tell, fairly specific to just actuarial work, where as Jobsite and Reed are a lot more varied.

Probably the simplest way is if you know which company you want to work for or if you know any companies, then you just simply search for their careers and see.

My Goals

My long term goals in my job hunt is fairly simple, to qualify as an Actuary. Sounds simple enough, but similar to accounting (a much more known profession) it has 15 exams that you must pass, as well as three years experience you need to log before you qualify as an Actuary. Unfortunately I realised that this was what I wanted to do a bit too late, all the Actuarial graduate schemes had ended, and so I am starting to apply for their 2015 openings, or in other words, I have a whole year to wait.

The Beginning

Ok so this is the very first entry to my blog, i’m not sure why I have decided to create one so lets see how it goes.

Right now I am on job seekers allowance, even though I recently graduated from Queen Mary University with a 2.1 I have not yet been able to find a job. So this blog is about my attempts at finding a job, my successes, failures and what I’ll learn along the way. I guess that’s what makes this different, it’s not your average 10 ways to get your dream job blog.
